TVDXA will operate 2011 ARRL Field Day stations.

We plan to have at least 2 stations (HF Phone and HF CW) in operation covering the time allocation for Field Day. We will once again be located on the grounds of the Tri-Community Fire Department, Station #3 on Bill Jones Road in Apison, TN. A map showing this location can be seen below.

Our primary objectives are to show the public that Ham Radio and the TVDXA members are equipped to operate in less than optimal conditions to meet head-on  the challenges of emergency communications preparedness. Other objectives include just having good radio fun and good fellowship.

This year we will operate under the class designator of 2A-TN having two (2) HF transceivers (Phone and CW) set up as our primary stations. We also chose to operate in a more casual mode this year to allow an opportunity for the less experienced hams to operate in a non-competitive environment. Hopefully this will encourage some of the newer operators to man the radios for a while. Our focus will not be on the contest portion of Field Day but rather to help raise the skill levels for those operators wanting help and to allow more radio time for non hams to discover ham radio.

Also this year we will transmit using gasoline generators for power and wire antennas to radiate our 100 watt signals. As more equipment becomes available we will attempt to set up a 6 meter or a UHF/VHF and/or a satellite station. We are still in the process of organizing so stay plugged in for possible changes to the page.

Hope to see as many members (or more) as last year as we can always use your radio expertise.
